Being a leader in our culture is often times incorrectly defined. When we hear the word "leadership" we automatically think of someone who holds a powerful position to control. Someone who gives out orders and receives none, someone everyone listens to and aims to please.
There are many "what a leader should be" opinions out there, many are correct, others not so much. One aspect that has always stood out to me has been the characteristic of being a builder. They are the kind of leaders who's students are better than themselves. They not only aim to make themselves or their organization greater, but each person better, even if they surpass them in the future. Our job as leaders, isn't to keep people below us, but to unlock their full potential, unlock their greatness.
